A plain-language reference for the terms that come up between a shortlist and a completed handover.
Aftermarket
The market for acquiring a domain that has already been registered, including listed names and some expired-domain sales. An aftermarket purchase differs from registering an available name for the first time.
Asking price
The amount a seller proposes for a domain. It describes an offer to sell, not evidence that a buyer has completed a transaction at that price.
Buy It Now
A fixed-price listing format that lets a buyer accept the stated purchase price under the platform’s terms. Understand the commitment and total costs before using it.
Domain name
A human-readable name used in the internet’s naming system. The name, its registration, the website it points to, and the associated email service are related but separate things.
Escrow
A transaction arrangement in which a provider holds money or other assets subject to agreed release conditions. Read the exact provider agreement, inspection process, and dispute terms.
Extension / TLD
The ending of a domain name, such as .com or .xyz. TLD stands for top-level domain. Evaluate the words and ending together when choosing a complete address.
Fast Transfer
An automated delivery workflow offered for eligible names on participating platforms and registrars. Enrollment and eligibility conditions matter; the label does not apply to every domain.
Sales lander
A web page shown to visitors of a domain to indicate that it is for sale and explain a purchase or inquiry path. Its setup may involve nameservers or another forwarding method.
Registrant
The person or organization holding the domain registration under the relevant agreement. Accurate account and contact details are part of managing that registration.
Registrar
The service through which a domain registration is managed. The registrar account is typically where renewal, contact, lock, and technical settings are handled.
Renewal
The process of extending the domain’s registration term. Confirm the exact continuing cost and renewal responsibilities when registering or acquiring a domain.
Reserve price
A minimum amount used in certain auction formats. Its effect depends on the auction rules; confirm how the reserve interacts with bidding and seller commitments.
Transfer / account push
A transfer between registrars changes the registrar managing a domain. An account push moves it between accounts at the same registrar. A change in registrant details is another distinct event and can affect eligibility.
